How To Get Involved
Membership in our Salad Share CSA
Subscribe to our Community Supported Agriculture program. For an annual fee, each week during the growing season members receive a bag packed with fresh organic produce, a beautiful flower bouquet, and delicious recipes for the featured foods of the week. All of our vegetables, herbs, and flowers are grown directly by children and youth in our programs. Joining our CSA is a delicious, healthy, and easy way to contribute to youth development and the environment in your community!
Farmers' Markets
During the summer the Garden Corps interns operate two Farmers' Markets. One stand runs every Saturday next to the Swede Hollow Café at 725 East 7th Street in St. Paul. The second stand rotates locations within Minneapolis/St. Paul throughout the summer. To find the location of our second stand on a specific Saturday call our office at 651.228.7073.
Both markets offer fresh organic produce, herbs, and flowers as well as offering the opportunity to meet our interns. It's a great opportunity to buy some of the freshest, most delicious vegetables and herbs grown by children and youth.
Volunteer Mentors, Guest Speakers, or Gardeners
Mentors and presenters are needed to assist with our youth intern programs. If you work in a field related to gardening, the culinary arts, food, environmental sciences, conservation, or ecology, you can volunteer to be a career mentor or make a presentation about your occupation to the interns in our program.
If you are interested in helping us plant our gardens, volunteers are needed every year in the late spring.
If you are interested in volunteering with us please call our office. Volunteering will help make your community stronger!
Intern Products
Each year interns learn entrepreneurial skills by designing and making a variety of garden related products. Products include wreaths made from dried flowers and herbs from our gardens, handmade felt garden ornaments, artistic note cards, herbal vinegars made from herbs from our gardens, and our “Fresh from the Garden” cookbook containing 32 delicious recipes from our friends and a variety of local and national chefs. Products are available for purchase throughout the year.
Service Learning
We provide service learning and work experiences for other children, youth, and adult programs. Projects are designed to promote an ethic of community service and include restoration work, community plantings, gardening, and other community improvements. If you are interested in participating in a service learning opportunity please call our office.
